For Kavinsky (15th December)
Dec. 7th, 2015 07:51 pmIt's...kind of a shitshow, actually. She's got a lot of recording time on the books, the phone is ringing off the book and Jamie is...well. Nowhere to be seen. Which Beca guesses leaves her in charge. She's getting plenty of studio time, which is awesome, but she doesn't have time to make coffee and clean and all of the other things she's supposed to be doing around the place. The dishes are piling up in the sink. The phone is going unanswered a lot.
She hits a lull and just sort of...collapses on the sofa in reception.
She cannot keep this up.

Dec. 7th, 2015 06:31 pmIt's gone on for long enough. She's been back from that other city for weeks now and she's still jumping at shadows, barely looking Jesse in the eye, sleeping swaddled in a hoodie and old flannel pants of Jesse's. She got to work that morning to find a note from Jamie telling her that he was going out of town and that she was in charge and the thought of having to hire someone to help was enough to have her sitting in the middle of the studio in floods of tears.
Who is she? Who is this person she's turned into.
Enough. Enough now.
She's cooking dinner when she hears him come in. She's washed her hair and it's still damp on her shoulders and she's wearing one of his t-shirts and a pair of boxer shorts.
She's trying.
She's trying so hard.

She's trying so hard.
She couldn't stand Jesse there but, as it turned out, she couldn't stand him gone, either. She'd paced around the apartment for a couple of hours and, just when she felt like she was about to go out of her mind, she decided to go out. Maybe she could drink enough to pass out and then, in the morning, she'd feel okay. Maybe.
She finds herself in a bar - she didn't even stop to see which one - and she's drunk enough that the world is swimming, slightly.
The thought of going home? Still makes her feel like she's about to start screaming.
"Can I get another one of these?"

Nov. 7th, 2015 06:51 pmBlood. There's so much blood. She's lost track of how long she was there and how long it's been since she saw Al. She's got a text from him on her phone, asking her if she's back, if she's okay. Her hands tremble too much to text him back. If she closes her eyes, she can still see that nightmarish version of Jesse, black blood gushing through her fingers.
She puts her hand on the door handle, can't open the door.
Where's she supposed to go if she can't go home?

Silent Darrow - For Al
Oct. 18th, 2015 07:36 pmShe knows there's something wrong the moment she opens the door. She's been pulling an extra shift at Arch, filling in while Jamie goes off to do...whatever it is that Jamie does when he's not at the studio. She's got her headphones on, what's left of a can of soda in her hand but then Electric is deserted and her music glitches, scratches. She knocks her headphones back off her head and that's what she notices the sky. At first, she thinks it's snow - early in the year as it is - but then she smudges a flake on the back of her bare hand and realises that it's ash.
What the actual fuck?
She's still standing there, looking up at the sky when an alarm sounds. Night's falling. None of the streetlights spark. Beca starts walking pretty hurriedly towards home.
When she hears someone call her name, a stab of irrational fear slips between her ribs.
Beca runs.

Oct. 3rd, 2015 06:48 pmThey arranged this by text and, honestly, Beca's pretty sure that he's not going to turn up. It won't be the first time that she's seen him since the day that he arrived, but it will be the first time that they're not just hanging out in one apartment or another. Al is a sweet guy, and Beca's decided that he could do with a bit more sun and air. That said, she is about to drag him ice skating.
It's not a perfect plan.
She's stood outside the rink, texting, idly playing with her hair.
If he doesn't turn up, she'll just go get a drink with Jesse instead.

Sep. 4th, 2015 07:53 pmIt's not often that Beca wakes up before Jesse. It's...pretty much never, actually. Beca's a pretty deep sleeper and Jesse's way more considerate than she is so, usually, it's Beca who gets breakfast in bed. They have like, a cupboard full of tea and Jesse's makes pretty awesome waffles. Still, this morning, Beca's up with the birds so she figures she'll get a jump on him and actually whip breakfast together. It's not like she can't cook. Just most of the time, she doesn't choose to.
Since they started sleeping together, Beca's pretty much given up on pajamas, so she pulls on the t-shirt that Jesse discarded last night and clean panties, pulling her hair up into a scruffy knot on top of her head to keep it out of the way. She cradles the bowl against her, mixing pancake batter and it's pretty inevitable that she ends up singing to herself, softly, though so that she doesn't wake him.
"Got a ticket for the long way round. Two bottle of whisky for the way. And I sure could use some sweet company and I'm leavin' tomorrow...whaddya say?"

"Arch Studios. Beca speaking..."
Aug. 3rd, 2015 06:51 pmIt's so weird. A couple of days ago, she ended up in bizarro world and now she's in...basically the same job that she had back home, dating the same guy. The only thing missing is Fat Amy's take on things. Which Beca misses a lot more than she would have thought.
Jamie's got coffee and Beca's back behind the front desk, sorting out the diary for the day. There's a lot less running around than she was doing back in Atlanta. Which is, at least, something.
Right?

First date
Aug. 3rd, 2015 01:02 amIt's ridiculous. She has no idea why she's so nervous.
Back at Barden, they'd never actually done this. Yeah, they'd gone out to dinner together, obviously, but they'd never really bothered dating. After that first kiss at Lincoln Center, they'd just sort of fallen into being together, completely. No awkward dinner dates required. Still, Jesse wants to start over, and Beca can see the wisdom in that. They both different people than the other one remembers. They need to figure each other out again.
She spent most of the day looking for a dress. Hopefully, he'll like this one. God. Why is she so nervous?
