First date
It's ridiculous. She has no idea why she's so nervous.
Back at Barden, they'd never actually done this. Yeah, they'd gone out to dinner together, obviously, but they'd never really bothered dating. After that first kiss at Lincoln Center, they'd just sort of fallen into being together, completely. No awkward dinner dates required. Still, Jesse wants to start over, and Beca can see the wisdom in that. They both different people than the other one remembers. They need to figure each other out again.
She spent most of the day looking for a dress. Hopefully, he'll like this one. God. Why is she so nervous?

"Like I was ever going to say no, nerd," she says, almost dreamily, melting forward into him as they dance. She cannot imagine a world where she isn't in love with him.

"Hey, how about after this is over we go back to my place, you steal some of my clothes for pajamas, and we fall asleep snuggling in bed?" Jesse asked, tilting her chin up so that she could look him in the eyes and see how serious he was.
no subject
"I...would be totally into that," she says, blushing when she realises just how into that she would be, how big a deal it is that he's suggesting it. "That sounds just about perfect."
no subject
"Yeah, I kind of hate the idea of you leaving at the end of the night," Jesse said. He was pretty sure he wouldn't be able to go through with it. Jesse just wanted to be with her.
no subject
"Me too," she says, wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning into him again. She desperately wants to kiss him then, but she also doesn't want to trip over all of these invisible barriers that they've put in place.
no subject
"So, I just want you to know, even after 3 years you're still a weirdo," he said, murmuring in her ear.
no subject
"And you are the biggest nerd I know," she says, grinning, her eyes still closed. "Hey. I bet you've got ice-cream in your apartment, right? Want to cut dessert?"

"I don't think we've done that one, no," says Beca, turning to grab her jacket off the back of her chair. "Is that what I've got to look forward to?"

"Baby, I love it when you talk movie to me," she says, holding out her hand to him once they're ready to go.

"Like in 1947 a version was shot with Danny Kaye, who is most well known for slapstick, so the story was heavily modified to showcase his talents."
no subject
"You should wait for other people to tell you they're cool," she says, as they step out of the club and into the night air. She pauses. "But that is actually pretty cool."
no subject
"Why don't you go grab something and change into it," Jesse said as he let her into the apartment. "I'll get the ice cream ready?"
no subject
"I'm sort of disappointed you're not going to see what's under this dress," she says, starting to pick through his t-shirts. "It's sort of amazing."
no subject
"Well you'll just have to wear it for me another time," he said, trying not to sigh in frustration. He knew she was just playing with him but he also knew that she was being serious.
"But I promise to make it worthwhile when the time comes," he said with a grin.
no subject
"I'll look forward to it," she says, selecting a worn band t-shirt and a pair of plaid cotton boxer shorts before she strips off her dress and fancy underwear.
"This? Is not quite as impressive."
no subject
"That depends on your perspective," Jesse called out from the fridge where he was getting their ice cream and trying to not think too much about what Beca was doing in the other room. He was going to think a little bit about it though.
no subject
"Mmmhmm."
She steps in between him, hand going into the small of his back over vest and shirt. She feels distinctly underdressed. "What flavour are we having?"
no subject
"We have Pebbly Path, which is the Darrow version of Rocky Road, and chocolate sauce to add, because ice cream always needs more chocolate. Go ahead and dish yourself some while I go change."
no subject
When he leans back, it's like she gets a little bit of him back. It's sort of like a jigsaw when she thinks about it like that.
"I will miss that vest," she says, mournfully, already dishing herself out a generous bowl of ice-cream.
no subject
"So are you ready for this? You're not going to fall asleep halfway through on me?"
no subject
"You look like something from Magic Mike," says Beca, skirting the question altogether. "Hoping for a small role in the sequel?"
no subject
"Now come on, let's to crash on the bed and watch the movie."
no subject
"I can't tell if you're being facetious or not," says Beca, walking ahead of him into his bedroom. "But I would be totally into that.
